Staccato in Haru No Umi

Staccato in Haru No Umi
Hi, can someone tell me how to play the staccato in pieces like Haru No Umi (notated by dots to the left of the note symbols) ?

You may tongue as in western silver flute playing.

I hope you are enjoying your shakuhachi practice.
Originally shakuhachi don't need any tonguing.But Shinkyoku(new pieces) demand the tonguing.
When I play like "Haruno-umi(the sea in the spring)"I use staccato.
I don't think that the staccato with shakuhachi is the same as it with silver flute.
With flute I put tongue between the lips.With this wa I can get sharp staccato.But shakuhachi mouthpieace is wide, so putting tongue between the lips is not suitable for shakuhachi staccato.
When I make staccato, I attach my tongue on the upper teeth gum, like recoder or trumpet.
Sometimes I change the staccato position and use slur.Because shakuhachi is not suitable for tonguing.

I have never played silver flute staccato in the manner that you suggest, but it seems that for double tonguing, that would be impractical. I agree with your idea for tonguing with the tip of the tongue behind the upper front teeth at the gum line. Tonguing here also makes double-tonguing very possible with the shakuhachi.

thank you all for your quick and helpful replies. It looks to me that the Western flute style staccato requires extra practice on the shakuhachi. Working on it!
