An Intro
Hi all

Just a quick post to say hello.

I am new to the shakuhachi and only found out what one was earlier in the year, having stumbled across the amazing sound whilst looking at overtones and harmonics. The flute itself seemed so simple (suckered in) that I had a go at making one, then two and four flutes later (plastic and some local thin walled, wide bore bamboo) decided I needed to buy one - so bought a Yuu. The first thing I found out was that my home-made flutes weren't c#, I was...

I am now looking to take some lessons so that I don't get into worse bad habits Surprised)

I enjoy listening to, amongst others, Riley Lee & Stan Richardson and enjoy reading Perry Yung's post on all things 'life' - I have only just begun to dig into the information here, but think it will be an interesting read

Cheers for now

Welcome to the forum, and to shakuhachi Ade!
Our little island has a great community of shakuhachi players, we're very lucky to have some excellent teachers here.

Whereabouts are you from?

Incidentally I've had a chance to play a yuu on a few occasions and I wish I'd had one when I started out, they're great!

Hi Jam

Thanks for the welcome - I am in Northants.

The Yuu is very nice, from a novice perspective

Ah not too far from Oxfordshire in the grand scheme of things, depending on how far north in Northants you are!

Perhaps our paths will cross at some point!

All the best with your playing endeavours, this forum is great if you get stuck.
