I had the chance to go to one of his concerts, and we have kept in touch since then. His style is quite far away from traditional shakuhachi music, but he is very skilful. You can find several of his videos on YouTube, usually together with guitar, sometimes also with piano. I especially like his interpretation of Georgia on My Mind:

He also composes, for instance this piece is quite nice:

Hi Roban,
Georgia on my mind is fabulous also. And the second piece you give is great also.
I adore the Jazz and I am really very enthusiastic to have discovered him.
I find that what he is doing in Shakuhachi is extraordinary. If I had two or three lives in front of me, this is the way I would like to play.

I think it's more appropriate to call his style "original", because even though it's very much inspired by jazz, it's not really standard jazz.
I am glad you enjoy his music, I was also very happy when I discovered him last year. I also hope that one day I shall be able to play similarly, but I after trying to play jazz for a while discovered that I still have a long way to go. If you want to try as well, perhaps you could start with Summertime, the melody is nice and I think it's not too difficult to play. Another easy piece is Amazing Grace (although not really jazz).
By the way, here is the web page of Toshio Kishimoto. Although it's in Japanese I am sure you can use Internet translation to find out more about him if you want:

Thank you for the web page, Roban (I was able to translate it by internet).
You are right, I already trained several times on Summertime, it is an easy piece, when we stay in the basic notes.
To give to it a little more punch, it is necessary to add of the improvisation, with a faster dexterity, and it is there that it is more difficult for me.
But I do not give up, I shall arrive there one day.
Thanks
