I am very glad to announce our event titled...
"Yokoyama memorial festival" ~20 year anniversary of international shakuhachi festival~
Events....
Competition for Yokoyama repertoire honkyoku.
You have to chose from Yokoyama's 22 repertoire.
There are 2 courses. One is a general course. The other is over 70 year course.
(Even you are older than 70, you can participate general course. )
There is a preliminary. To participate it, you have to send first 5 min. of your play recording as mp3 file to longphrase@gmail.com .
Participation fee is 5000yen. You can send it to the same email address by Paypal.
The deadline is 15th July. The result will be announced on 22nd July. The competition is on 28th August.
The judges are Riley Lee,Teruo Furuya,Kazushi Matama,Kuniyoshi Sugawara,Kaoru Kakizakai,Toshimitsu Ishikawa, Mitiaki Okada.
Who partipated the competition can get 10000yen discount of the main event participation fee. (It means 50000yen participation fee will be 40000yen.)
And who passed the preliminary can get 20000yen disount of the main event participation fee. (It means 50000yen participation fee will be 30000yen.)
And the top 3 of this competition can play at the main concert.
Concerts
1,Yokoyama's works and pieces that have strong relation to Yokoyama pieces.
2,Main concert (there are 2 big pieces. One is "RyuseiYagaku" by Keisuke Doi and "Goru" by Katsuya Yokoyama. You can play these 2 pieces.)
3,Student's concert.(who would like to play in this concert has to apply in advance.)

Date: from 28th to 31st August 2014
Place : Bisei-cho Okoyama-ken (where the 1st international shakuhachi festival took place.)
Participation fee : 50000yen (This covers entrance fee for the workshops lectures and concerts, 3 nights stay,9 meals. )
There will be a free bus.
From Shin-Kurashiki sta. to the venue ...on 28th and 29th afternoon.
From the venue to Shin-Kurasiki sta..... on 30th afternoon.

Interesting. Looking around online, it seems that Bisei-cho no longer exists separately but has been merged into Ibara-shi. Is this true?
