after last year's grand celebration of 10 years of shakuhachi festivals in Prague. The preparations for the 11th issue are well on the way.
Together with Anna, my wife, we are spending the last three months in Japan seeking new talents, interesting compositions and ideas for the event.

International Shakuhachi Festival Prague starts in three weeks! There are some highlights from the program (more to come):
Wednesday 13 – Book Club about Japanese literature, held by the Municipal Library of Prague
Thursday 14 – Symposium Music as Identity: Regional Instruments in Changing Contexts – 15 speakers from all over the world including Genmyo Iso, the head priest of the Icchoken Temple
Friday 15 – masterclasses and workshops begin including Gunnar Jinmei Linder, Akihito Obama and Hiromu Motonaga, evening concert ZEN: Sound and Silence
Saturday 16 – masterclasses and workshop continue, Hands on courses for absolute beginners, evening concert of Pro Musica Nipponia
Sunday 17 – masterclasses and workshops continue, evening concert of Nomura Hozan, the main star of the International Shakuhachi Festival Prague 2017
Monday 18 – the festival ends, Student concert, evening experience: Icchoken Shakuhachi Ensokai

Thanks to the generosity and benevolence of Genmyo Iso, we are pleased to announce that we are openning his second masterclass at ISFP 17.
His first masterclass on Chikuzen Sashi sold out with days - showing how much people in Europe are eager study genuine spritual music.
In his second masterclass you have the opportunity to study the Icchoken Koku – a fundamental piece of Icchoken honkyoku repertoire.
