Wide bore adjustment
Wide bore adjustment
Greetings folk,
Gerd Winkler has me trying out one of his flutes, the hiccup is that it has a wide bore, which seems to slip out of position on my chin as I attempt to get a good embouchure. I can measure the diameter when I return home but Gerd's flute is wider than my 2.6.
I was wondering if there was a knack/trick/magic to settling in with a flute with a wide bore such as this ? Or do I accept the concept that the physical dimensions of my face will not allow me to ever play this flute ?
Be well.

You can use a rasp to file the back of the flute down. Then careful sand it. This is best done by the maker.

To change it's angle on my chin ? Better surgery on the Shakuhachi than my noble chin !
Surgery was my second thought. It is not for changing the angle in the first place. It is for getting the blowing edge nearer to your lips. And doing so changing the angle as well.
