Warm Greetings from DC
Hello all,

A little introduction: I first heard shakuhachi 32 years ago teaching guitar/bass at a music camp in Maine. On a deep dive into upright jazz bass and composing, I promptly forgot it. In 1996, I switched gears to study Ethnomusicology and met my teacher, fine Tozan player Soshuzan Mizuno.

A few years ago, I started to compose for shakuhachi - weaving improvisations over many months into finished compositions. Two weeks ago, I recorded my first suite "Old World Dreams" and released it - like a bottle into the internet ocean - under my pseudonym, Shakulatte. I wanted to share it in joy with you.
