The Gardener's Heart

Yu-San is 81 years old. His wife died last year. He is the gardener at Dai Bosatsu Zendo and works 14 hours a day, 24-7. I have been bringing students here for retreats Annually since 1976. This weekend when I performed my usual Honkyoku, I played a special duet with a student of KOJO NO TSUKI (Moon over the deserted Castle) for Yu-San. He was so filled with emotions, he could not speak. A few hours later he still waived people off staying deep in his feelings. And even later when someone tried to speak to him, he said that he was still listening to the music.

This is what it is all about.
