Chiku Za-"Take to Iki"
Chiku Za has released a new CD called "Take to Iki" playing massively long 3.2 and 3.7 jinashi flutes of his own making. Chiku Za is also known as Kodama, shakuhachi maker.

It's a good listen. Chiku Za plays unadorned and very basic, direct, honkyoku. The sound of his jinashi is also rustic and windy.

It's interesting for me to listen to this because Kodama supplies bamboo for the Taimu shakuhachi of Ken LaCosse. Listening to this sound and comparing it to the Taimu sound shows just how much influence the maker has over the bamboo.

If you want a relaxing, raw and simple honkyoku listening experience I recommend this CD. He plays with no ego.
